Conservation and restoration of existing farm buildings for a very particular customer under the supervision of natural England. The brief was to repair and restore the L shaped barns to how they would have been when first built in 1782.
Once complete the customer wanted the finished buildings to look like they had been maintained over the years rather than substantially worked on. He said he didn’t want it to be obvious where the money had been spent. We had to source elm timbers, matching reclaimed bricks and roof tiles. All the masonry work was laid and pointed in lime mortar and broken glass was replaced with hand blown restoration glass.
